ACT & Southern NSW Annual Lunch 2023
We had a disappointing acceptance of 23 members/guests for this event, with a couple more failing to attend because of urgent commitments that came up at the last minute. Nevertheless, those who did attend reported having had an enjoyable time, with tasty and plentiful food and acceptable wines and beer. The bar bill was unexpectedly small. The Chief of Navy Vice Admiral Mark Hammond was unable to join us for lunch, but we accommodated him with a re-jig of the usual program. He had a prepared speech, but discarded it in favour of giving the audience an overview of the strategic situation and happenings with the navy since he took over as chief. He spoke quite frankly under Chatham House Rules. Near the end of his presentation he pointed out the ongoing importance to the nation of the continued involvement of associations such as the NWOA with the community. A copy of the program for the day is attached. Unfortunately, our photographer forgot his role.
