ANZAC DAY 2023 - NWOA Sydney Reunion

The NWOA Committee is pleased to confirm the 2023 ANZAC Day Sydney Reunion will again be held at the RAN Sailing Association (RANSA) on the waterfront in Rushcutters Bay.

HMAS RUSHCUTTER is directly linked to the birthplace of our Association and we also assured of a warm welcome from RANSA. Those who attended last year will recall the site’s convivial nature, its harbourside and parkland vistas, and the comfortable outdoor and indoor tables and seating with plenty of space for our numbers whatever the weather.

Proceedings will open at 1230 which should provide plenty of time for members to leisurely make their way to RANSA after the march, no matter how late it runs. There is no set completion time - you are welcome to remain and enjoy sunset over the harbour behind Garden Island!

The Committee encourages a strong turnout. The Reunion is open to all members and serving officers of any branch. Partners are most welcome and a good number certainly enlivened things last year! Guests of members with a service affiliation are also welcome.

The fee for the event has been maintained at $90/ head. This covers a three-hour package of substantial ‘finger food’ provided by the onsite commercial café operator, and drinks (beer/ soft drinks/ wine) provided by RANSA. After 1530, members are more than welcome to linger, at their own expense.

Dress for the Reunion will be smart casual (trousers/ chinos with a collared shirt). Members who are marching beforehand or who prefer a more formal attire on ANZAC Day, please feel free to attend in coat and tie with medals. (Note: Attendees are requested to wear their NWOA badge in order to access the food and beverage package negotiated with the café and RANSA. For any member without an Association badge, these will be available from Committee representatives on the day.)

Please note the venue is easily accessible by private or public transport. Those intending to drive should note that parking in New Beach Road, Rushcutters Bay (closest road to RANSA) can be tight on public holidays but there are other parking options in Darling Point/ Edgecliff (including Edgecliff Station).

The easiest public transport options for RANSA are the train to Edgecliff Station or bus to Rushcutters Bay Park. Edgecliff Station is an easy 10 - 15 minute walk to RANSA and train services are usually every 10 minutes. A number of bus routes service the area from the city (eg 324 & 325) and these are also fairly frequent (eg every 14 minutes on a public holiday). The nearest ferry options are Darling Point or Double Bay.

Bookings can now be made by credit card through the Association’s website (log in, select Dash Board - top menu, then select Events - Sidebar menu, and then Sydney Anzac Day Reunion 2023). Alternatively, members can book and pay using electronic funds transfer (EFT) to the NWOA Westpac account (BSB: 032 000, AC:100155). Members paying by EFT are requested to include their initials and surname as the payment reference. After paying by EFT, please email the event convenor, Simon Glastonbury at [email protected], informing him of your attendance and the names of any other guests.

Finally, we ask that members make their bookings as soon as possible as we have to commit to a final number of attendees with the café operator well in advance of the reunion. For this reason, we are setting the RSVP date as 4 April.
